Weekly Report #06 - A Busy Month

The previous issue of the weekly report was still on October 8th. In this month and a half, although there have been updates of 6 articles, they are all compiled from the content recorded during leisure time, mainly based on flomo's notes. The job search has basically come to an end, and the next time will be spent on the graduation thesis.

After the National Day holiday, I devoted myself to the autumn recruitment. I have lost count of the number of companies I have sent resumes to, and I have participated in more than 10 interviews. I have been in a cycle of "sending resumes", "resumes being screened", "interviews", "second interviews", and "rejections", and have participated in job fairs organized by the school and companies, but the results have not been satisfactory.

The reason why I didn't choose to take the postgraduate entrance examination or the civil service examination was mainly due to family reasons. My family conditions are not very good, and I have a younger sister who is still in high school. I want to start working as soon as possible to reduce the burden on my parents. In addition, the postgraduate entrance examination and the civil service examination are like crossing a single-plank bridge with thousands of soldiers and horses, and the chances of success are very slim, so I chose to directly enter the workforce.

The process of job hunting is very agonizing, with long waits and torment. I have traveled from one city to another for interviews, with high hopes, but the result is often "I'm sorry, yesterday's interview did not pass", which is mentally and physically exhausting. I believe that hard work will be rewarded, and so far the situation has been good. I had an interview with Construction Bank last week and received a job offer from a relatively large company. However, I don't have high hopes for the bank, and I am currently in the process of signing a tripartite agreement with the company.

There is an interesting thing. On November 10th, I received a job offer from a company. Before that, every morning when I woke up, I would open the job search app to look at job postings, and even before going to bed at night, I would flip through them before sleeping. After receiving the email notification on the afternoon of the 10th, I slept for 9 hours that night...

I didn't buy anything on this year's Double Eleven. I don't have any needs at the moment. I have never participated in any activities on Black Friday before, but this year is different. Since major server vendors will participate in Black Friday promotions, I have also paid attention to them.

I have previously introduced the use of CloudCone on my blog, and many friends left me messages, hoping to receive an email from me when there is a promotion on Black Friday. I also didn't idle around and started preparing from the beginning of the Black Friday warm-up until the Black Friday promotion of CloudCone started on the afternoon of the 23rd. I have been sharing related content through emails.

At around 3 pm on the 23rd, there was a sudden flash sale. Everyone thought it was this year's Black Friday promotion, but the VPS released was labeled as 2022 BF, obviously last year's goods, and there were not many of them. When you clicked on it, there were basically no more available.

During that time, I managed to grab a VPS for $17 per year and sold it to a friend who needed it. After that, I never managed to grab one again. Until yesterday afternoon, CloudCone's Black Friday page was updated and changed to Christmas promotion. I asked the customer service and learned that the Black Friday promotion has been postponed to next month, along with the Christmas promotion... It's just a monkey show.

Since that's the case, let's wait for Christmas next month. If there is a need, you can also leave me a message. Once there is a promotion, I will send out an email notification, and by then I should have enough balance to make purchases.

Interesting things and objects:

  • October 11th: I was reading Zhou Ling's "Cognitive Drive" and it mentioned the work of "replication" attribute, which only requires initial investment and the cost gradually decreases over time, but the returns keep coming. There are many independent developers on Twitter, and I was thinking that developing apps, creating blog themes, and writing paid columns should also be "replication" work. If done well, it can generate continuous returns, and later time can be spent on maintenance.
  • October 11th: This sandbox game website is quite relaxing, with various chemical substances that can be freely used and will produce various chemical reactions.
  • October 14th: Yesterday, I went to Nanchang to meet a classmate from East China University of Science and Technology. There is an experimental base there that simulates railway tracks and train operations. It looks good for taking photos, so I took a photo lying on the tracks! The nearby Changbei Airport often has planes flying over.
  • October 14th: Yesterday, on the subway, there was a middle-aged man sitting across from me. He was wearing headphones and listening to music on his phone while reading a novel. He had a big belly, and he rested his hand holding the phone on his belly. After a while, I heard him snoring loudly, and the phone was about to fall off, but he suddenly woke up, looked at the phone for a while, and went back to sleep, and the phone was about to fall again. In the end, he put the phone in his pocket, and I could finally relax.
  • October 18th: I bought FreeBuds 3 three years ago, and they still work fine now, but the sound is a bit low and they are quite dirty. I originally planned to buy a tool to clean the earphones on Pinduoduo, but then I found a video on Bilibili that only requires a cotton swab and a bottle of alcohol to clean the earphones easily.
  • October 22nd: I watched a video on Bilibili by a content creator named Ah Zhou Zhou Ah Zhou, who interpreted "Journey to the West". Suddenly, I realized that the most difficult to understand among the Four Great Classical Novels is "Journey to the West". Although it is about gods and monsters, it is not just about gods and monsters. My impression of "Journey to the West" is still stuck in the TV series version played by Liu Xiao Ling Tong, which I watched when I was very young. I only paid attention to the plot, which countries they passed through, and what monsters they encountered. I didn't delve deeper into it.
  • October 24th: I suddenly realized that I changed software icons not to pursue better looks, but to replace those software icons that come with various annoying ads. The icons of the pre-installed apps on my phone are already very nice and aesthetic, and some third-party apps with simple and elegant icons are also beautiful. On the other hand, those software icons with ads are just annoying and I want to replace them.
  • October 28th: "Be pure and not ignorant, be kind and not weak. Hold life above the mundane, and dissolve into society. This should be the common pursuit of our generation."
  • October 29th: I made 160 yuan by taking advantage of discounts on Pinduoduo. It was the first and last time I took advantage of Pinduoduo's discounts. I sent messages to classmates I haven't contacted for a long time, and I won't do it again.
  • October 30th: I just discovered how useful Perplexity AI is. It's an intelligent AI search engine, similar to another New Bing, but with a better interface that looks very comfortable. It not only integrates search results, but also has a Discover section on the left, which displays some highly popular search content.
  • November 4th: Recently, due to the Clash incident, the atmosphere on Twitter has suddenly become worrying. I happened to come across two articles about protecting personal privacy and not being tracked by others. One is from a Twitter friend named GeekPlux, and the other is from Bearblog. I read them together to learn how to protect privacy.
  • November 7th: I watched "The Last Truth", it's a bad movie.
  • November 12th: For the first time, I got tempted by watching food review videos. It has to be Wang Gang's videos. His voice is pleasant, and the videos are very close to life. When he sits down to eat, I feel like I'm sitting across from him. He gives close-ups of the dishes and even close-ups of him scooping rice and eating the dishes. It's so tempting.
  • November 13th: I ordered a Redmi Note 11T Pro on Double Eleven, 12+256, and gave it to my dad. He is still using the Huawei Enjoy 9 he bought 5 years ago, which is very slow. I have told him several times to change his phone, but he is reluctant to do so. I made the decision without consulting him first, and if he wants to return it, I will say it has been activated and cannot be returned. I also bought a phone case that suits the style of middle-aged people, and I will send it back home together. Fortunately, I went through it myself, there are too many ads. I bought it from JD.com, and the price is quite good. Although I didn't pay the full amount at once, I used JD White Bar for 6 interest-free installments, and I only need to pay 200 yuan per month, which is quite easy.
  • November 24th: I saw a popular science video on Bilibili: tetanus. I always thought that tetanus can only be contracted by being pricked by a rusty nail, but I didn't expect that the real cause is not rust, but the formation of small and deep wounds after being pricked by a nail, which prevents oxygen from entering, making it easy for anaerobic bacteria called Clostridium tetani to grow, leading to tetanus infection. A wound of 5mm is considered deep, but it still needs to be combined with the injured area.

These are the contents of the past seven weeks. I hope to review each week in a relaxed and calm manner, and I hope that friends who subscribe to my blog can calmly read my sharing and continue to love their lives. Life is not just about nonsense.

The background image is from a word hanging at the entrance of the cafeteria. It says, "It's not a big deal, eat the noodles first." I hope that in the future, I will have such a broad-minded and optimistic attitude.
